A Stroke Of Genius For Mums-To-Be
Nailgirls Creates A Nail Varnish Free From Harmful Chemicals
Having your nails painted is something most women enjoy; it’s a quick, easy and often a cheap way to spice up a look and add some instant glamour. The must-have range for expectant mums is an up and coming brand that has cool colours and doesn’t containing nasties. Introducing…Nailgirls!
Nailgirls London was created by two sisters, Jo and Lynda-Louise Burrell. Having worked as a Fashion Editor and Stylist in NYC for eleven years, Lynda-Louise couldn’t live without her weekly mani-pedi, something that was so easily available and affordable there. Upon returning to the UK both Lynda-Louise and Jo realised that London was falling short on a walk-in nail spa that could offer affordable luxury, in an impeccably clean and ethical environment. So, they opened their first spa. They didn’t stop there though, they created a nail varnish range that offered something truly different.
It’s a kaleidoscope of fashion and classic colours of a superior formula; free from any harmful chemicals like toluene, formaldehyde, DBP (phthalates) and camphor. They are not tested on animals, are vegan friendly and the packaging is recyclable.
Lynda-Louise says: “What we wanted was a directional and wearable colour collection for the nails that was on trend with catwalk collections. A range composed of both the very latest fashion shades and classic colours, in shades to suit all skin tones.”
Mums and mums-to-be can feel hesitant towards wearing nail polish during pregnancy and after birth, however the superior formula of Nailgirls' polishes means that they are free from harmful chemical nasties, such as formaldehyde and toluene. So, mums can still stay on trend and treat themselves!
As an added bonus, the polishes are formulated to help improve the nails, meaning that they could be really beneficial for nails that have been left weak and damaged after pregnancy.

Lynda Louise tells us the changing of the seasons means the changing of nail colours. The big 'It' colour is blue. From electric to navy it's a must wear! We also see a return to more classic deep rich colours such as burgundy and taupe. Whimsical colours like bright red and shocking yellow are also popular, which is super fun for the colder months.
Nailgirls Top tips for your tips
A fresh manicure is a great way to boost your mood as well as your look, but it can be tricky to maintain your mani when you’re busy with ‘Mum Duties’.
Here are their top three tips: -
1. Use a base coat - Although this can seem like extra work, a base coat will not only help your polish to apply smoothly and enhance its colour, it will also give your polish something to adhere to, meaning that it will stick around for longer!
2. Apply thin coats - Applying thin coats of polish to even out and build up your colour will last for much longer than one or two thick coats. It might require a little more patience, but it beats watching all your hard work chip away days later!
3. Re-apply a topcoat every two days - This will not only prolong the life of your mani but it will also help to protect the nails.
