With love from Project-B on Valentine's Day
Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is one day in the year many couples can’t avoid! If this is your first pregnancy, then this year will be extra special – your last one as just the two of you, before you expand your family! And if this pregnancy is a further addition to your existing family unit, then you might use it as an opportunity to make a little bit of quality time with your other half.
Whilst two tickets to Paris given with breakfast in bed would be nice, Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be so fancy or so expensive. Just making a bit of time to snuggle up on the sofa watching a good film, or sharing a walk in the park holding hands are lovely things you can do as a couple.
Another simple way to spend quality time together is turning the TV off and enjoying a nice meal together. You can enjoy talking about your exciting year ahead and your hopes and dreams for your new baby when he or she arrives. But what could you cook? Well, here at Project-B, we are fans of the BBC Good Food website and just love their romantic recipes which also look easy to make. Just try to avoid their shellfish recipes (no oysters this year – sorry!) – and check out our blog from a few months ago with for foods to avoid in pregnancy, or log on to: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/foods-to-avoid-pregnant.aspx#close for the current NHS guidelines on this.
From nice and simple Sweetheart Chocolate and Hazelnut sandwiches (you could put one in your other halves lunch box with a little message – ahhh) to Sticky Fig lamb Cutlets with Warm Bean and Couscous Salad, there is something for every skill and budget.
And for those lovely single mums-to-be reading this – just remember, it won’t be long before you have the total love of your life right there in your arms J.
